Caboodle data warehouse5/31/2023 ![]() This position is responsible for partnering with BI business analysts, database administrators, and end-user layer Business Intelligence developers in implementing solutions delivered on Epic Caboodle’s SQL Server. This work ensures that the information assets of the enterprise are leveraged to enhance financial, clinical, and operational decision-making, therefore ensuring competitive business advantages. The candidate shall be able to effectively read as well as author SQL at an advanced level. Exceptions may be considered if the candidate does not have this certificate but can still demonstrate strong experience with Caboodle development from a recent assignment. This position requires Epic Caboodle Certification or Proficiency, typically obtained by completing the CDW250 course, project, and exam. Proven communication, analytical, and problem solving skills.Ībility to manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis with excellent attention to detail.Ībility to accurately document system technical artifacts at a level of detail sufficient for ongoing production support.Įpic Caboodle Developer Proficiency or Certification obtained from Epic through the CDW250 course, project, and exam. Knowledge of data warehousing architecture and dimensional modeling concepts. Minimum three years working in relational databases.Ībility to read, write and maintain advanced SQL code. One year experience with authoring ETL for Epic Caboodle Data WarehouseĮxperience creating technical documentation of ETL and data models. Minimum of two years of experience with T-SQL or ANSI SQL coding and tuning. Epic will host ongoing developer events and training programs, but for now, there are no App Orchard-specific certifications required.Minimum of three years of paid work experience as an Application Engineer or Developer using SQL Server SSIS Front-end skills and knowledge of java-script and web services are a solid profile for would-be Epic app developers. Module-specific certification is a hallmark of the Epic development community, but the App Orchard and its Open/API-driven model means any strong developer-even with limited Epic experience-can theoretically build and submit an app. Core Development Skills Required-But Not Certification App Orchard partners will need to have detailed plans (and resources) for ongoing maintenance and support of deployed apps. Apps must be ”well-behaved,” meaning they must work reliably, be secure and they cannot put patients or hospital operations at risk. Expect High Standards for Safety, Security and SupportĮpic told attendees to expect rigorous technical reviews during the approval process. The number of App Orchard partners grows monthly, and Epic is investing in more support staff and more test environments to enable the review and approval of many more apps over time. Since then, Epic has been building out the infrastructure and processes required to support partners and developers. The App Orchard launched earlier in the year with 15 apps. A strong knowledge of Kit and Epic’s APIs is important for developers. Similarly, Epic is committed to its growing library of APIs that are keys to unlock Epic logic and patient records. ![]() Epic’s commitment to Kit and Caboodle was strongly emphasized at the conference. Kit overlays the data warehouse (Kit and Caboodle – get it?) and becomes a critical toolset for data extraction and app development that can be leveraged across multiple Epic customers. Reflecting back on the event, here are a few of my major takeaways: Kit and APIs are Critical Toolsets for App DevelopersĬaboodle is Epic’s data warehouse platform that can pull in disparate data sources from inside (and outside) of a healthcare entity. Like most App Orchard partners, we are still in information gathering mode, but what we heard at the conference will definitely help us advise customers interested in building Epic apps. The speakers-mostly Epic program and product managers and engineers - were open and accessible. The sessions were packed with great information, but the setting was informal, so it was easy to get answers to questions. Having just attended Dreamforce the previous day, I appreciated the intimacy of this conference. The event was relatively quick and small, lasting a day and a half with a few hundred of us in attendance.
